Free-Bus-Travel-In-Newport-During-December

Free bus travel in Newport from 1st to 24th December 2021

01 December 2021

Newport City Council will underwrite the cost of journeys that start and end within the city boundaries.

A scheme to offer passengers free travel on bus journeys within Newport in the run-up to Christmas is being extended, running 7 days a week* from 1st to 24th December. Covering all journeys that start and end within the city boundaries, services operated by Newport Bus, Stagecoach and Cardiff Bus will be included in the offer.

Transport for Wales has also confirmed that the fflecsi service in the city, which it commissions and funds, is providing the same offer.

Councillor Jane Mudd, Leader of Newport City Council, said:

"Our initiative has received fantastically positive feedback. We want to encourage residents to stay and shop local while travelling in a sustainable way.

"Initially, the offer was only going to be for Mondays to Saturdays but we've now added Sundays to help people even more as Christmas approaches.

"I'm delighted that Transport for Wales is following our lead after confirming that journeys on fflecsi services in the city will also be free during the same period."
