Free Christmas Travel for Emergency Service Workers on Transport for Wales Services

18 December 2018

Transport for Wales is offering free travel to emergency service workers on their train services over the Christmas period.

Between December 14th and January 4th, those who work for the emergency services can travel on Transport for Wales services for free. This includes all members of the fire and rescue service, the ambulance service, and the RNLI and coast guards. This is an offer already available to Police Officers.

This free travel can be claimed by emergency service workers who are on duty or making their way to or from work. They must also have their ID on them and be in uniform.

This is Transport for Wales’ first Christmas in operation since taking over from Arriva Trains Wales in October. This is the start of a 15-year contract for the franchise, who are operating on behalf of the Welsh government.

Customer Experience Director Colin Lea says that this offer is in recognition of the “fantastic work” done by the emergency services.
