The UEFA Champions League Final will be taking place on Saturday 3^rd June 2017 at the National Stadium of Wales (Principality Stadium).

From the 1^st – 4^th June 2017, Cardiff will play host to a range of exciting games and entertainment across the city, as follows:

1^st – 4^th June – UEFA Champions Festival @ Cardiff Bay

1^st June – UEFA Women’s Champions League Final @ Cardiff City Stadium

3^rd June – UEFA Champions League Final @ National Stadium of Wales

Up to 170,000 additional people will be travelling into Cardiff during this time, which is anticipated to be the biggest and busiest sporting event ever hosted by the city.

TRANSPORT TO BE AT ITS BUSIEST SATURDAY 3^RD JUNE 2017

Due to the scale of the event, transport services around the city will exceptionally busy, particularly on Saturday 3^rd June. There will also be extensive road closures across the city for safety reasons and to manage the high volume of visitors in the city.

Cardiff Bus

Edwards Coaches

During the Champions League closures, Edwards Coaches services will start and terminate at Park Place.

First Cymru

Thursday 1st, Friday 2nd, Sunday 4th June 2016:  Lloyd George Avenue will be closed and services X10 and T1C will be unable to access the Wales Millennium Centre stop during the closure. Services will be diverted via Dumballs Road & James Street and the alternative stop for customers is Mermaid Quay.

3rd June 2017: X10 & T1C Will be unable to serve Cardiff Bay due to Road closures and will also be unable to terminate or commence journeys from Custom House Street. Both services will operate to Cardiff via Leckwith and will terminate and start from Tudor Street.

Service X2 to Bridgend and Porthcawl will depart from Taff’s Mead Embankment during this period. Services will enter Cardiff via Neville Street and Clare Street as normal, then across the junction to the Embankment and return.

It is expected that there will be considerable traffic congestion in the area during the event and this may have an adverse effect on services, particularly on 3rd June.

From West and East

X1 will operate via Neville Street, Clare Street, Tudor Street, Wood Street, Havelock Street, Park Street, Westgate Street, Wood Street and vice versa.

From the South

T9 will operate via Schooner Way rather than Lloyd George Avenue

89A/B will operate via Bute Street rather than Lloyd George Avenue

X8 and X11 will terminate at Mermaid Quay Bus Stop

Friday 2^nd June

From the North

X8 will operate via Boulevard De Nantes, Stuttgarter Strasse, Dumfries Place, Station Terrace; Guildford Street, Churchill Way, Bute Terrace, Customhouse Street, Penarth Road, Tresillian Way, Callaghan Square, and will terminate at Mermaid Quay bus stop.

320 will operate via Lower Cathedral Road, Clare Street, Tudor Street, Wood Street, Havelock Street, Park Street, Westgate Street, Wood Street, Tudor Street, Clare Street, Lower Cathedral Road

From West and East

X1 will operate via Neville Street, Clare Street, Tudor Street, Wood Street, Havelock Street, Park Street, Westgate Street, Wood Street and vice versa.

X11 will operate via St Mary’s Street, Wood Street, Havelock Street, Westgate Street, Wood Street, Tudor Street, Clare Road

From the South

T9 will operate via Schooner Way rather than Lloyd George Avenue

89A/B will operate via Bute Street rather than Lloyd George Avenue

Saturday 3rd June

From the North
X8 and G1 will terminate at Park Place
320 will terminate at Taffs Mead Embankment  

From the East
X1 and X11 will terminate at Dumfries Place

From the West
X1 will terminate at Taffs Mead Embankment

From the South
304, 89A/B and T9 will terminate at Dumfries Place

X8 and X11 will be suspended due to the volume of road closures

No services will be serving Cardiff Bay 

Newport Bus

On Saturday 3rd June, Newport Bus 30 service will be terminating and departing Dumfries Place but on an alternative timetable.

The X30 services will operate normal timetable but will only operate to/from UHW in Cardiff.

ROAD CLOSURES

There will be road closures and diversions in the city centre on Saturday 3^rd June, and around Cardiff Bay and Castle Street from the 1^st – 4^th June. SECURITY

This will be the biggest security operation undertaken in Cardiff, with extra officers and staff from all over the country arriving in the area to help police the event.

South Wales Police and partners are planning ahead to ensure the event is safe and that potential disruption to local services and impact on local communities and businesses will be minimised.

It is advised that you should avoid travel on Saturday 3^rd June, unless your journey is essential. If you will be travelling on the day, please make sure to allow extra time for your journey.
