Transport for Wales
While Transport for Wales begin work on building a better transport network in South Wales, it may mean temporary periods of change to your journey plans.
Where possible, they are scheduling the transformation work to take place during less busy times to minimise disruption and offering connections between rail services and bus services.
03 August – May 2021
The major part of this phase starts on Monday 3 August 2020 with improvement work taking place on the Treherbert, Aberdare and Merthyr lines from Radyr station northwards.
The work will take place late evening and overnight Sundays through to Thursdays during this period, closing this part of the network from 2000 to 0500.
2000 Sunday 3 January until Friday 22 January 2021
With expected low numbers of travellers we’re taking the opportunity to deliver a major piece of infrastructure work. For those making journeys during this quieter period, buses will replace trains for all rail services north of Radyr from Sunday 3 January until Friday 22 January 2021.
This window will allow us to progress with our plans and carry out major transformational engineering work for the South Wales Metro.
