There will be road closures in place in stages throughout the day on 5/5/2019 to accommodate the Whitchurch 5k run. Buses will be diverted and heavy congestion is expected in and around the area. Please leave plenty of time for your journey.
The race route is as follows: Merthyr Road (closed 15:00 until midnight), Penlline Road, Kelston Road, Heol Don, Station Road, Gabalfa Avenue, Gabalfa Road, College Road, Bishops Road, Bishops Place, Church Road (closed 18:30 until 20:30)
Cardiff Bus
Diversions from 15:00 to 18:30; and 20:30 to Last Bus
Merthyr Road will be closed between Bishops Road and Old Church Road.
Services 21/23; 24 & 25 will divert between Gabalfa Interchange and Whitchurch Library in both directions along Manor Way. Northern Avenue, Ty'n-Y-Parc Road and Old Church Road. Bus stops from The Philog to Whitchurch Library will not be served, please use the bus stops along the diversionary route, including the temporary stop on Old Church Road.
Diversions from 18:30 to 20:30
Merthyr Road between College Road and Penlline Road will be closed from 18:30 to 20:30. Services 21 & 23 will divert between Gabalfa Interchange and Pantmawr Road in both directions along Manor Way and Northern Avenue. Bus stops from The Philog to Heol Pant Y Rhyn (Pantmawr Road) will not be served, please use the bus stops along the diversionary route instead.
Service 35 will divert between Gabalfa Interchange and Gabalfa Avenue/Cathedral View via Western Avenue, Excelsior Road, Aberporth Road and Western Drive. Buses will circle the roundabout at Gabalfa Avenue/Cathedral View and return to normal route along Gabalfa Avenue. Bus stops at Celtic Road, The Philog, Whitchurch Common, College Road and Gabalfa Avenue (as far as Cathedral View) will not be served.
Stagecoach
Stagecoach services will be diverted after 14:30 and not be able to serve Whitchurch Village centre.
Services 26 & 132 will operate from the Hollybush Inn via Pantmawr Road & Northern Avenue/Manor Way in both directions.
Buses will observe all stops along Northern Avenue & Manor Way.
