In accordance with latest Welsh Government guidelines, there are no restrictions in place for travel into or out of Wales as long as you are travelling to or from a country within the UK or wider Common Travel Area.

  • Arriva Buses Wales will suspend its X51 (Denbigh - Wrexham) service after last operation on 10th July. A temporary timetable, run by a third-party operator, in effect from 19th July to 28th August can be accessed here.

  • From Sunday 20th June, Sunday frequency on Service 4S and Service 10 in Chester will increase to run every 30 mins. Service 10 will be re-routed via Church Street, no longer serving York Road. Evening and Sunday journeys will run the same as the Mon-Sat daytime route.

Pre-circuit breaker lockdown timetables will resume on Monday 9th November.

Face masks MUST be worn at all times whilst travelling on School Transport vehicles and service route vehicles for children over the age of 11. Please be advised that you will not be allowed to travel without a mask.

On community transport services:

  1. There can be no more than ten passengers on the bus at any one time.
  2. All passengers must wear a face covering whilst travelling on the bus, otherwise they will not be permitted to enter the bus.
  3. It is desirable that all passengers have their own hand sanitiser and apply before entering the bus. The driver will have a supply of hand sanitiser in the case of emergency.
  4. Passengers will be directed to their allocated seat to adhere to social distancing guidelines.

  • On Saturday 29th May, First Cymru are introducing two new Open Top ‘Cymru Coaster’ services on their network.

  • From 15th June, changes made to Service 227 during the pandemic will become permanent as it more effectively serves passengers. The school service element will be suspended until further notice.

 

 

National Express

Services will be resuming on Wednesday 1 July, providing coach travel across major towns and cities with a reduced timetable in place. More stops and services will be added onto the network as more people start to travel again. National Express will be:

  • Increasing the flexibility of our tickets - visit the National Express flexible travel page to find out about our free amendments and updated refund policy
  • Enhancing our safety measures - find out about the changes being made on the National Express coronavirus safety page

When National Express services resume, their coach arrival and departure stop in Swansea City Centre will be on The Kingsway, opposite the NCP multi-storey car park. This replaces the temporary Wellington Street stop that was used until late March.

Please be aware that, due to ongoing Covid-19 safety measures and restrictions, any P&O Lloyds journeys labelled as ‘School Day Only’ on Service 8 (Mold to Sealand Manor) are for school children only. This affects the 7:45 service from Shotton towards Mold and 15:00 service from Mold towards Shotton.

All other P&O Lloyds services have either duplicate buses operating on School Days or are able to operate as normal with safe social distancing.

Stagecoach in South Wales

Stagecoach South Wales have made a number of changes to timetables in recent weeks. Please be sure to double check the latest timetables on their Covid page before travelling.

  • The last day of operation for Service 28 (Newbridge - Caerphilly) is Saturday 31st July. The service will cease to operate beyond this date.

From Sunday 18th July 2021:

  • Blackwood Service 151 - will be running a school holiday service and will run up to every 12 minutes.
  • Rhondda Valleys Service 132 - the last journey from Cardiff at 2035 will now continue to Maerdy and there is a later return journey between Maerdy and Porth at 2205.  

From Wednesday 21st July 2021:

  • Aberdare Service 60/61 - Abercynon bridge will be closed and we'll be running a revised timetable on services 60/61. Abercynon Navigation Park and Imperial bus stops will not be served and will divert via the A4059 to the Abercynon roundabout.
  • Aberdare Service 95 - timetable will change and will run every 60 minutes.

From Monday 26th July 2021:

  • Aberdare Service 172 - Maerdy Mountain Road will be closed on Mondays to Fridays. On these days the service will run from Aberdare to Tonypandy without stopping, then onto Bridgend following its normal route. Shuttle bus "172S" will run between Maerdy and Tonypandy. On Saturdays and Sundays all journeys on the 172 will follow the normal route.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus situation and measures introduced to support social distancing, Transport for Wales Rail continue to run a reduced service compared to pre-pandemic levels. All available trains are in operation and TfW Rail have prioritised capacity around their busiest services.

From Sunday 16 May 2021, there’ll be some minor re-timings and amendments to services in particular affecting services in the north of the network. Details can be found here.
