Six Nations Championship. Traveline Cymru

Six Nations Championship. Wales v Scotland. Saturday 3rd February 2018

Always a highlight on the sports calendar, Wales will be taking on Scotland, Italy and France as part of the Natwest Six Nations Championship at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff!

The city is sure to be busy, so make sure you have your tickets and head to the Capital to soak up the atmosphere during the match.

Road Closures

There will be city centre road closures in place between 10:30 - 17:30.

However from early in the day Scott Rd & Park St will be closed as a result of the need to prepare Gate 5 and to protect queuing fans

For a full road closure the following roads are closed

  • Kingsway from its junction with North Rd to its junction with Duke St.
  • Cowbridge Road East from its junction with Cathedral Rd to its junction with Westgate St.
  • Tudor St from its junction with Clare Rd to its junction with Wood St (access for residents & traders will be permitted via Fitzhammon Embankment)
  • Plantagenet St & Beauchamp St from their junctions with Despenser Place to their junctions with Tudor St (access for residents & traders will be permitted)
  • Saunders Road from its junction with St Mary Street
  • Customhouse Street throughout its length (access to private car parks will be permitted)
  • Penarth Road from its junction with Saunders Road to the entrance leading into the rear of the Central Train Station
  • The following roads will be closed in their entirety: - Duke St, Castle St, High St, St.Mary St, Caroline St, Wood St, Central Sq, Westgate St, Quay St, Guildhall Pl, Golate, Park St, Havelock St & Scott Rd. 

Additions:

  • Civic Centre: Access to part of the Civic Centre will be controlled throughout the day, with access allowed only for concert parking, limited commuter parking, loading and access to private car parks. Roads affected include: King Edward VII Avenue, Museum Avenue, City Hall Road, College Road & Gorsedd Gardens Road
  • From 15:45 – 19.00pm Station Terrace in its entirety will be closed – cars will be able to exit the Capitol Shopping centre car park via North Edward St / Station Terr northbound onto Newport Rd / Dumfries place.

Please Note:

  • If there are any safety concerns in connection with crowds queuing to go into the venue prior to gates opening there may be a need to close Wood St & Westgate St earlier, along with lane restrictions adjacent to Gate 1 on Cowbridge Rd East.
  • If there are any safety concerns in connection with the Central Station & Queen St Station queuing systems then in Station Terrace, Wood Street, Westgate Street, Park Street, Havelock Street, St Mary Street, Penarth Road, Saunders Road and Custom House Street will remain closed until safety concerns are remedied.


Cardiff Bus

There will be city centre road closures in place between 10:30 - 17:30.

During the closures, cross-city buses will split in the city centre.

First Cymru

Service X2 will pick up and drop off at Tudor Street.

Last service X2 before Wood Street closes: 10:05.

First service X2 after Wood Street reopens: 18:05.


Stagecoach Bus

All Stagecoach buses will start and finish at Greyfriars Road all day on Saturday.

Bus 25 will not serve Cardiff Bay.

Buses 122/124 will run all day via Gabalfa and not serve Cathedral Road or Castle Street.
