First Cymru Launches Open-Top Bus Rides This Summer

10 June 2022

First Cymru are relaunching their Mumbles and Porthcawl open-top Coaster bus services and introducing TWO new routes for Summer 2022: Aberavon and Tenby.

The Mumbles, Porthcawl and Tenby routes will begin operating on Thursday 2nd June, with the Aberavon Coaster taking its inaugural journey on Monday 6th June. Each Coaster is hop-on, hop-off – so one ticket is enough to ride all day, as many journeys as you’d like!

Prices also remain unchanged over last year:

Mumbles, Porthcawl & Aberavon

Adult: £5

Under 15: £3.30

Group of 5: £15

Tenby

Adult: £6

Under 15: £4

Group of 5: £18

Where & when will each service run?

Tenby Coaster (TC)

The Tenby Coaster will operate hourly during daytime from Tenby (South Parade) before heading to Saundersfoot Harbour via Tenby Esplanade and New Hedges.

This service operates on Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, along with all public holidays.

Aberavon Coaster (AC)

The Aberavon Coaster will operate hourly during daytime from Port Talbot bus station all along the Esplanade.

This service operates on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. But it will not operate on any public holidays.

Mumbles - Service 1

The Mumbles service will operate from Swansea Bus Station to Bracelet Bay via the Marina, The Slip, Blackpill (Lido) and Oystermouth Square.

This service will operate 7 days a week, including public holidays.

Porthcawl - Service 99

In partnership with Visit Bridgend and Trecco Bay Holiday Park, service 99 will operate hourly during daytime from Trecco Bay Holiday Park to Rest Bay.

This service will operate on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.

Jane Reakes-Davies, Managing Director for First Cymru said:

“It is an exciting time for everyone at First as we launch these new leisure services starting this Spring Bank Holiday weekend. The open-top routes will give many people a new opportunity to have a great day out and experience the Swansea Bay and Porthcawl coastline from a different perspective, with beautiful views on the top deck. The services will also attract day visitors to the area and provide a much-needed boost to the local economy.”
