Completing the upgrade of the tunnel has been a decade in the making and a £5.58bn investment in rolling stock and infrastructure. The new electrification of the line has reduced journey times between South Wales and London by an average of 14 minutes, resulted in an extra 15,000 seats during the week and means greener journeys for passengers as they travel to and from South Wales on GWR’s Intercity Express Trains.
Network Rail have produced a short video around the project here.
