Local Lockdown Travel Guidance

Various local lockdowns have been introduced in Wales following a sharp increase in coronavirus cases.

We'll continue to update this page with the latest guidance from Welsh Government and transport operators on the impact of local lockdown measures on public transport. You can read a statement from Welsh Government on local coronavirus restrictions here.

The below local authority areas are affected by local lockdown measures. The main restrictions are as follows:

  • people will not be allowed to enter or leave these areas without a reasonable excuse (for example, travelling for work or education, providing you have no symptoms and are required to isolate)
  • people will no longer be able to form, or be in, an extended household (sometimes called a “bubble”)
  • this means meeting indoors with anyone who is not part of your household (people you live with) is not allowed at the moment, unless you have a good reason, such as providing care to a vulnerable person
  • all licensed premises will have to close at 11pm
  • people must work from home wherever possible

There are no changes to the current timetables on public transport due to the local lockdowns. However, it’s important that who lives within boroughs under local lockdown measures follow the latest Welsh Government guidance.

Please note that you are permitted travel on public transport routes that pass through an area under local lockdown measures, so long as your journey starts and ends in a non-lockdown area.
