Ynyswen Road works to start in August 2017

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council will carry out necessary structural work to a road bridge on the A4061 Ynyswen Road, while taking the opportunity to complete nearby re-surfacing works.

The substantial works to strengthen the bridge on Ynyswen Road, near Treorchy Fire Station, will be carried out over 12 weeks from early August. The works require temporary traffic lights on the bridge section on the main road.

The Council will also carry out substantial, structural re-surfacing works on a larger section of Ynyswen Road, starting from the bridge in a northerly direction to Baglan Street. This will require a two-week road closure starting from Monday, August 14, from 8am to 5pm each day.

The alternative route for motorists, through Ynyswen Industrial Estate, will be signposted and temporary bus stops provided. Access for Ynyswen Road residents, emergency services and pedestrians will be maintained.

During the road closure, buses on services 120, 121 and 130 will follow the diversion through Ynyswen Industrial Estate. The bus stops in both directions along Ynyswen Road at Dunraven Terrace, Ynyswen Station Approach and Payne’s Shop will be taken out of use.

The works will cause some disruption locally, which is why the full road closure for the re-surfacing work is scheduled for the school summer holiday. The two projects will be undertaken at the same time to minimise disruption.
