Disruptions

From Friday 23rd until Sunday 25th August 2019, Pride Cymru will be taking place on and around Cardiff’s City Hall Lawns. There will be road closures in place during this time and before and after the event. Please see below for details of these closures and service diversions.

 

Thursday 22nd- 26 August from 6am until 6pm:

  • Museum Avenue from its junction with College Road to its junction with Gorsedd Gardens.
  • Gorsedd Gardens throughout its length.
  • City Hall Road throughout its length.
  • King Edward VII Avenue from half way between College Road and City Hall Road, (to the entrance to Alexandra Gardens), to its junction with Boulevard.

 

Cardiff Bus

While preparations for Pride Cymru are taking place, Cathays Park will be closed from Thursday 22 August until Monday 26 August. During this time Baycar (service 6) will divert along Park Place, Corbett Road and North Road. Please use bus stops along the diversionary route instead. We apologise for any inconvenience caused to your journey

 

 

Saturday 24th August- Pride Cymru Parade- 10am until 1pm:

  • North Road from its junction with Column Road to its junction Boulevard De Nantes.
  • Cowbridge Road East from its junction with Cathedral Road through to its junction of Westgate Street.
  • Tudor Street from its junction with Clare Road to its junction with Wood Street (access for residents and traders will be permitted via Fitzhammon Embankment.)
  • Plantagenet Street and Beauchamp Street from their junctions with Despenser Place to their junctions with Tudor Street (access for residents and traders will be permitted.)

The following roads will be closed in their entirety: Kingsway, Castle Street, Duke Street, High Street, St Mary Street, Wood Street, Central Square, Westgate Street, Quay Street, Guildhall Place, Golate, Park Street, Havelock Street and Scott Road.

 

Cardiff Bus

A number of Cardiff Bus services will divert and start/end from different city centre stops than normal from 11:00am to 1:30pm.

Services 51/53, 92, 93, 94, 95, 95A/95B are not affected by the road closures and will start/end from their usual stops and follow normal route.

 

Stagecoach South Wales

All Stagecoach buses will start & terminate at Greyfriars Road until 15:00.

Buses will operate via Colum Road & Park Place, as North Road (A470) will also be closed.

Service 122: Will be diverted via Gabalfa Interchange & North Road and will not serve Cathedral Road until after 15:00.

Services 25/132: Will not serve Cardiff Bay until after 15:00.

 

NAT

Transport for Wales

Transport for Wales rail services will be extremely busy over the weekend. Please ensure you leave plenty of time for your journey and check for any live disruptions via their Journey Check.

 

Newport Bus

The 30 service will depart and terminate from Greyfriars Road only between the hours of 11:00-13:30. The X30 service will operate only to and from the UHW between the hours of 10:00-13:30.
