Due to the current adverse weather conditions, there will be severe travel disruptions throughout the day and over the weekend.

There is an AMBER weather warning of rain for Wales. This is valid from 06:00 on Friday 12th October to 18:00 on Saturday 13th October.

First Cymru:

Service 460 from Carmarthen to Cardigan will not operate today (15/10/2018) because of the adverse weather conditions over the weekend.

Transport for Wales:

Severe flooding has caused damage to the track in the Llandeilo area. No trains will be able to run on this route until at least Tuesday 16 October. Trains will be replaced with road transport today.

No trains will operate between Blaenau Ffestiniog and Llandudno Junction due to more trains than usual needing repairs. Services on this route will be replaced by road transport.

Severe weather forecast for Friday 12th and Saturday 13th October

Severe weather is forecast to affect the Wales & Borders area through this coming weekend.  Severe flooding caused by extreme rainfall and coastal flooding is forecast.  As a result, an amended timetable will be implemented as follows

Heart of Wales

The Heart of Wales line will be closed between Llandeilo & Shrewsbury due to flooding. Roads in the area are being blocked by the police due to safety concerns. We are advising passengers not to travel until further notice and we are unable to provide road transport due to safety concerns. Please check website for further updates.


Swansea - Carmarthen
No trains will operate between Swansea - Carmarthen between 0700 - 1100 and after 1900 due to anticipated coastal flooding caused by strong winds coinciding with high tides.  Very limited replacement buses will be in operation and customers are advised to avoid travelling.  A list of service alterations for Friday 12th October can be found here A full list of service alterations for Saturday 13th October can be found here

Aberystwyth - Machynlleth - Newtown - Shrewsbuy
No trains will operate between Machynlleth and Newtown in both directions after 1000 until start of service on Monday.  A full list of alterations for Friday 12th October can be found here and a replacement bus timetable can be found here.  A full list of alterations for Saturday 13th October can be found here and a replacement bus timetable can be found here

Machynlleth - Tywyn - Barmouth - Harlech - Pwllheli
The 08:52 Machynlleth - Pwllheli, 10:55 Machynlleth - Pwllheli, 09:34 Pwllheli - Machynlleth and 11:37 Pwllheli - Machynlleth services will be cancelled.  Replacement road transport will operate, the timetable can be found here 

Blaenau Ffestiniog - Llandudno Jn
No trains will operate between Llandudno Junction and Blaenau Ffestiniog on Friday or Saturday.  A replacement bus timetable can be found here

Cardiff Central - Pontypridd - Mountain Ash - Aberdare
Due to severe flooding in the several areas between Abercynon and Aberdate, trains are unable to run.  Road transport is currently extremely limited.  Rail tickets are being accepted on local Stagecoach bus services. 

Customers are advised that road transport is subject to local road conditions and may also be affected by road closures.  Additionally, further route closures may occur during the course of the storm.  Customers with tickets dated for travel on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th October are able to use their tickets on Sunday 14th and Monday 15th October.
