Six Nations Championship

Six Nations Championship. Wales v France. Saturday 17th March 2018

Kick off: 17:00

Always a highlight on the sports calendar, Wales will be taking on Scotland, Italy and France as part of the Natwest Six Nations Championship at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff!

The city is sure to be busy, so make sure you have your tickets and head to the Capital to soak up the atmosphere during the match.

Road Closures

There will be a full city centre road closure from 13.00pm – 20.00pm

However from early in the day Scott Rd & Park St will be closed as a result of the need to prepare Gate 5 and to protect queuing fans.

For a full road closure the following roads are closed

  • Kingsway from its junction with North Rd to its junction with Duke St.
  • Cowbridge Road East from its junction with Cathedral Rd to its junction with Westgate St.
  • Tudor St from its junction with Clare Rd to its junction with Wood St (access for residents & traders will be permitted via Fitzhammon Embankment)
  • Plantagenet St & Beauchamp St from their junctions with Despenser Place to their junctions with Tudor St (access for residents & traders will be permitted)
  • Saunders Road from its junction with St Mary Street
  • Customhouse Street throughout its length (access to private car parks will be permitted)
  • Penarth Road from its junction with Saunders Road to the entrance leading into the rear of the Central Train Station
  • The following roads will be closed in their entirety:- Duke St, Castle St, High St, St.Mary St, Caroline St, Wood St, Central Sq, Westgate St, Quay St, Guildhall Pl, Golate, Park St, Havelock St & Scott Rd. 

Additions:

  • Civic Centre: Access to part of the Civic Centre will be controlled throughout the day, with access allowed only for concert parking, limited commuter parking, loading and access to private car parks. Roads affected include: King Edward VII Avenue, Museum Avenue, City Hall Road, College Road & Gorsedd Gardens Road
  • From  18.30pm – 21.30pm or until train queues disperse Station Terrace in its entirety will be closed – cars will be able to exit the Capitol Shopping centre car park via North Edward St / Station Terr northbound onto Newport Rd / Dumfries place.


Cardiff Bus

There will be city centre road closures in place between 13:00 - 20:00 (note that Lower St. Mary Street will remain closed after 20:00).

During the closures, cross-city buses will split in the city centre.

Newport Bus

Due to the Six Nations rugby at the Principality Stadium, Newport Bus service 30 will terminate and depart from Greyfriars Road (Stand GG) on the following dates and times:

Wales v Italy
Sunday 11th March 2018
11:00 – 18:30

Wales v France
Saturday 17th March 2018
13:00 – 20:00
*Lower St. Mary Street will remain closed after 20:00*

Stagecoach Bus

All Stagecoach Bus services will start and finish at Greyfriars Road after 12:00 on Saturday 17th March 2018.

Bus 25 after 12:00 will not serve Cardiff Bay.

Buses 122 / 124 after 12:00 will run via Gabalfa and not serve Cathedral Road or Castle Street.
