Gregynog Festival

Gregynog Festival, Newtown- Saturday 22nd until Sunday 30th June 2019

From 22nd- 30th June, idyllic venues across Mid Wales will play host to the 2019 Gregynog Festival, a spectacular weeklong celebration of classical music. Join hundreds of other attendees at the National Library of Wales (Ceredigion), Gregynog House (Powys), Capel Bethel (Aberystwyth) and Capel Pontcadfan (Powys) for an unforgettable week of concerts and performances.

Highlights of the festival include an intimate acoustic performance from chamber-folk string trio, Tŷ Ein Tadau. They will be playing songs from their smash hit debut album Tŷ Ein Tadau at the National Library of Wales on Saturday 22nd June.

Also at the National Library will be a special lecture from Rhian Davies of Walford and Wales. Rhian will be exploring the ambition of Henry Walford Davies, the festival’s first artistic director, ‘to further the expression of Welsh nationality in music’ on Friday 28th June.

On the same day, the Odysseus Piano Trio will pay tribute to the Aberystwyth Trio, who were appointed by Henry Walford Davies in 1919 as the first resident chamber ensemble at any University in the world. The Odysseus Piano Trio will perform a core classical repertoire and music by Welsh composers associated with the original trio in The Music Room at Gregynog.
