Powis Castle, Powys, is the perfect place to start your Christmas celebrations early this winter. Discover how the Herbert family spent their Christmases in the Castle as festive scenes come to life behind large gilt frames. You can find these portraits in the Castle’s State Rooms, open until 4pm daily.
Fancy some fresh air? Wrap up warm and take a stroll through the breath-taking illuminated gardens, open Friday- Sunday until December 16th. Adult tickets are £7.15 and a child ticket is £3.60. Family tickets are also available. If all that walking leaves you feeling a little peckish, sit back, relax, and tuck into some of the delicious festive treats on offer at the Courtyard Restaurant. A stunning afternoon tea with a glass of prosecco or mulled wine is also available.
Christmas would not be Christmas without a visit to Santa’s Grotto! Open every weekend from the 1st-23rd December, tickets are £6.50/child (including a gift and Christmas cookie) and booking is essential. You can also join Santa for breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays from 24th November to December 16th, where he will be telling some of his favourite festive stories. This also gives the kids more time to go through their Christmas wish list! Breakfast is £10.95 for an adult and £9.95 for child.
