Abergavenny Food Festival- Saturday 21st until Sunday 22nd 2019

For 20 years, the Abergavenny Food Festival has been a highlight of the culinary calendar for locals and visitors alike. Chefs, food businesses, journalists, farmers and food producers travel from far and wide to enjoy this inclusive and welcoming festival, renowned for its outstanding programme of engaging and immersive activities. This includes masterclasses from the professionals, cookery lessons, topical debates, product tastings and activities for kids.

The festival aims to offer an insight into food issues faced by producers and consumers today, offer new ideas for the future and to showcase rising stars from the industry. It’s also an opportunity for people to explore and learn about food whilst also enjoying some delicious treats along the way!

Festival highlights include:

  • Cooking Over Fire: The Cooking Over Fire stage showcases the very best of cooking outdoors whilst looking out over the stunning ground of Abergavenny Castle. Co-founder of Poco Restaurant Ben Pryor will host demos including ‘Plant Based BBQ with BBC’s Dirty Vegan, Matt Pritchard’ and ‘Three Courses over Fire with Freddy Bird’.
  • Markets: The Markets are truly a highlight of the food festival, with over 220 stalls spanning 8 different sites across Abergavenny. From Castle Street to Cross Street. Horsington’s Yard to Market Hall. Visitors will be spoilt for choice with cheese, wine, artisan baked good, deli meats, plant-based products and so much more.
  • Tasting Workshops: Whether you want to learn more about the ‘Anatomy of a Cow’, ‘Welsh Shellfish’ or ‘The Perception of Taste’, these interactive workshops will get your taste buds tingling.
  • The Farmyard: Farmers from far and wide will join forces to tell the real story of farming today and to celebrate the joy and diversity of the produce we eat. Visitors can also visit the animals in the livestock pens and the family friendly activity tent with workshops for kids of all ages.
