Traveline Cymru wins Arts & Small Business Award for innovative partnership

12 July 2019

Traveline Cymru are “delighted” with their win last night at the Arts & Business Cymru Awards, where they were presented with the Arts & Small business award for an innovative partnership with Focus Wales and Hijinx Theatre.

The Arts & Business Cymru Awards 2019, now in its 25th year, aim to recognise “creativity and excellence” in partnerships between business and the arts.

Traveline won the Arts & Small business award for its work with Focus Wales and Hijinx.  The project targeted young people who are “disengaged” with arts because of their financial circumstances, through volunteering opportunities.

Jo Foxall said: “We are delighted with our win and hope that this will raise the profile of Traveline Cymru as an organisation which works on innovative, pioneering and inclusive projects.”

“We look forward to building other innovative partnerships and working on successful and exciting projects in the future.”

Traveline Cymru is a Welsh business employing 42 people, across a site in central Cardiff and a site in Penrhyndeudraeth, North Wales.

Companies of all sizes across Wales compete to win the “prestigious” awards which were held on Thursday 11th July at Wales Millennium Centre.

A&B Cymru CEO Rachel Jones said: “Once again our business partners demonstrate their belief in the importance and power of the arts and the range of nominations for this year’s Awards, was a true indication of how effective arts partnership are for businesses in Wales.

“A&B Cymru is proud to play a part in fostering so many innovative projects that help to create a richer society. In this flagship ceremony it is truly an honour to be able to celebrate the very best in cross sector collaboration.”

Traveline Cymru provides a ‘one-stop-shop’ for travel information in Wales. The not-for-profit company is based on a partnership between the Welsh Government, public transport operators in Wales and Welsh local authorities. It provides route and timetable information for all bus, coach and rail services in the country via a bilingual website www.traveline.cymru, its Freephone telephone service (0800 464 00 00) and a suite of services for mobile phone users, including a bilingual app.
