Cardiff Bus helps families 'Step into Christmas' with festive discounts

11 November 2016

Cardiff Bus are helping families start their Christmas festivities on Thursday November 10th with exclusive discounts.

As Cardiff prepares for its annual Step into Christmas event, Cardiff Bus will be offering discounted family tickets to help those traveling into the city centre escape the hassle of traffic and parking issues.

Families looking to travel into the city centre for the event will be able to purchase the ‘Families for a Fiver’ promotion ticket, which will permit travel for two adults and up to three children or young people eighteen years of age or under.

From 3pm on Thursday, the family ticket will be available at a reduced rate of £5 in Cardiff and Penarth, or £7 across the entire network.

Highlights of the Step into Christmas event include Santa and his reindeer parade, Christmas markets in the Festival Quarter, and Santa’s grotto on Queen Street. The event also marks the opening of Cardiff’s popular Winter Wonderland on City Hall Lawn with its famous Admiral ice rink and the Christmas market stalls on the Hayes.

There will be over 80 performances in various locations around the city centre, and although there is no official light switch on, this will be the first opportunity for the public to see the Christmas lights adorn the city centre.

Gareth Stevens, commercial manager at Cardiff Bus said: “We’re always trying to provide the best value for our customers and we know that the run up to Christmas can be an expensive time. We’re helping families get their Christmas off to a good start by reducing our family ticket for those travelling to the Step into Christmas event.

“With thousands expected into the city centre on Thursday evening, we’d encourage families to travel by bus to ease congestion and avoid parking issues.”

Cardiff Bus will have additional buses and staff on standby, due to the high volume of visitors expected to attend the event.
