Disruptions

National Eisteddfod of Wales, Cardiff. 3rd – 11th August 2018. *Significant service disruption.* Please check disruptions for info.

PLEASE NOTE: Bus stops in Cardiff Bay will NOT be in use during the Eisteddfod, and buses will be diverted. Please see below for full details.


Road closures

Please see below the road closures in place for the event, which will be necessary due to the anticipated crowds expected at the event.

The roads that will be closed 24hours between the dates above will be:

  • Harbour Drive & Britannia Quay throughout its length
  • Bute Place from its junction with Britannia Quay through to its junction with the James Street
  • Pierhead Street throughout from the junction of Falcon Drive
  • Lloyd George Avenue from its junction with Hemingway Road (both directions) therefore The Flourish will be closed in its entirety around Craft in the Bay.

Bath Bus Company

They will operate the open top tour buses from the bus stop at the Bay end of Bute Street. 


Cardiff Bus

The following diversions will apply to routes 6 (baycar and Summer Extras), 8, 13 and 91 from 06:00 on Saturday 28th July until 06:00 on Thursday 16th August.

Baycar: Will start and end at County Hall and not serve Wales Millennium Centre, Harbour Drive or Porth Teigr.

Service 8: Will start and end at Mermaid Quay not serving County Hall, Pierhead Street or Wales Millennium Centre.  For journeys to Cardiff Bay operate normal route to James Street then continue AHEAD and turn RIGHT into New George Street to the inbound bus stop.

13 to Sports Village: Operate normal route to Bute Street then LEFT Lloyd George Avenue; RIGHT Hemingway Road (County Hall); Queensgate; Butetown Tunnel to A4232 / Cogan Interchange then normal route to Sorts Village.

13 to City Centre and Drope: Operate normal route to A4232 then continue AHEAD Butetown Tunnel; Queensgate; Hemingway Road (County Hall); LEFT Lloyd George Avenue; RIGHT Bute Street and back to normal route.

91 to Penarth: Operate normal route to Lloyd George Avenue then LEFT Hemingway Road (County Hall); Queensgate; Butetown Tunnel to A4232 / Cogan Interchange then normal route to Penarth

91 to City Centre: Operate normal route to A4232 then continue AHEAD Butetown Tunnel; Queensgate; Hemingway Road (County Hall); RIGHT Lloyd George Avenue and back to normal route.

The above will mean no buses will be serving the bus stops on Pierhead Street, The Flourish (WMC), Harbor Drive or Porth Teigr.

Edwards Coaches

400: The bus only services Cardiff Bay on a Sunday and for the duration of the road closures will terminate at Greyfriars Road. 

First Group

X10: The bus will not service Cardiff Bay for the duration of the event and will use Leckwith Road into the city.


NAT Group

T9: Will operate as normal
89: Will divert via Dumballs Road
303/304: Will divert via Dumballs Road


Stagecoach Bus

Buses 25 & 132 will operate to and from Hemingway Road, Cardiff Council offices in Cardiff Bay.
