Disruptions

Newport Bus

On Wednesday 18th & Thursday 19th September 2019, services 8A/8C, 6/7/6E and 74 serving Ringland estate and Chepstow Road (between Aberthaw Road and Coldra) will stop or divert between 19:00 and end of service.

Due to the number of vandalism attacks against these services, staff, and customers over the last few days, Newport Transport would like to advise customers that on Wednesday 18th & Thursday 19th September 2019,  the services serving Ringland Estate and Chepstow Road (between Aberthaw Road and Coldra) will be removed or diverted between 19:00 and end of service.

This decision has been made in consultation with senior staff and has been made in the interest of the safety and wellbeing of staff and customers. The potential ramifications of such incidents are serious. It has been due to good fortune that someone has not been seriously injured in previous attacks.

Services will return to normal routes on Friday 20th September but should further issues occur the company may make the decision to remove these services for a longer or more permanent period.

The changes to the services are:

8A/8C – The last service to leave the bus station will be the 18:30 8C service – all other services will not operate.

6/7/6E – The last service operating full route will be the 18:30 7 service – From the 18:45 6 services the 6/6E will only operate as far as Ladyhill Road in both directions.

74 – The 18:15 74 from Newport will operate full route. The 21:15 departure will operate via Somerton Road/SDR and return to its normal route at Coldra. The 21:35 departure from Chepstow will operate via SDR and Somerton Road returning to normal route at Chepstow Road
