Disruptions

Cardiff Council’s Telematics Department need to carry out minor works to the bollards that are situated at the North and South sections of Westgate Street.

Due to the nature of the road these will need to be undertaken at night under a full road closure.

The works are planned to take place Monday 17th, Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th June from 20.00pm – 5am (each night)

The closure will be in place from Castle Street to the junction Havelock Street, Northbound Residential / Business Access only will be maintained. (Please note North bound will be from Castle Street)

 

Stagecoach South Wales:

Services 25, 26, 132 and X4 will end and start in Greyfriars Road after 19:30 hours due to Bollard works in Westgate Street Cardiff closing the road overnight. 

Services back to normal for Thursday evening 20th June.

 

 

Cardiff Bus:

The following services will be diverted from 20:00-5:00 each night:

Services 8 & 9

Buses towards Cardiff Bay / Sports Village will follow their normal route as far as Newport Road then divert via Station Terrace, lower Churchill Way, Bute Terrace, Customhouse Street to St Mary Street.  Customers wishing to board the bus in the city centre during the closure can do so from the bus stop outside the Philharmonic on St Mary Street.  Buses will continue to Cardiff Bay / Sports Village via Wood Street and their normal route.

Bus stops on Dumfries Place, Greyfriars Road, Kingsway and Westgate Street will not be served.

Journeys towards Heath Hospital are not affected.

 

Services 11 and 28B

Buses will follow their normal route to Newport Road then divert via Station Terrace, lower Churchill Way and Bute Terrace to Hayes Bridge Road where journeys will end.  Customers wishing to catch the bus in the city centre can do so from Hayes Bridge Road.

Bus stops on Dumfries Place, Greyfriars Road, Kingsway, Westgate Street and St Mary Street will not be served.

 

Services 13, 17, 18, 25, 61, 63, 64, 66 and 96A

Journeys towards the city centre will divert via Neville Street, Despenser Gardens, Fitzhamon Embankment to Wood Street.  Buses will then circle Southgate House before ending their journeys on Wood Street.  Customers wishing to catch the bus in the city centre during this time can do so from Wood Street.  Services 13, 25, 61, 63, 64, 66 and 96A will use stop JR on Wood Street and services 17 and 18 will use stop JQ.  Both these stops are situated at the new Central Square.  Buses will exit the city centre via Tudor Street.

Bus stops at St David’s Hospital, Cardiff Bridge and Westgate Street will not be served during the closure.

 

Services 21, 23, 24, 27

Buses will follow their normal route to Castle Street then divert via Cardiff Bridge, lower Cathedral Road, Despenser Gardens, Fitzhamon Embankment and Wood Street.  Service 27 will start and end its journey at Havelock Street and services 21, 23 and 24 will start and end at Wyndham Arcade on St Mary Street.

Outbound journeys will divert via Wood Street, Tudor Street, Clare Road, lower Cathedral Road and Cardiff Bridge before returning to their normal route at Castle Street.

 

Service 30

Buses will follow their normal route to Customhouse Street and lower St Mary Street then divert via Wood Street, Tudor Street, Clare Road, lower Cathedral Road, Cardiff Bridge to Castle Street where they will continue along their normal route.  All normal bus stops for service 30 will be served. 

 

Service 35

Buses will follow their normal route to Castle Street then divert via Cardiff Bridge, lower Cathedral Road, Despenser Gardens, Fitzhamon Embankment, Wood Street to St Mary Street.  Customers who would normally catch the 35 service on Westgate Street will need to use the stop outside the Wyndham Arcade on St Mary Street as an alternative.  Service 35 will exit the city centre via its normal route via Bute Terrace and Churchill Way.

 

Services 44, 45, 49, 50, 52, 57 & 58

Buses will follow their normal routes to Newport Road then divert via Station Terrace, lower Churchill Way, Bute Terrace, Customhouse Street, lower St Mary Street then circle Southgate House before reaching the Royal Hotel bus stop.  Bus stops on Dumfries Place, Greyfriars Road, Kingsway, Castle Street will not be served.

Buses will exit the city centre via their normal route via Customhouse Street, Bute Terrace and Churchill Way.

 

Service X45

Buses will follow their normal routes to Newport Road then divert via Station Terrace, lower Churchill Way, Bute Terrace, Customhouse Street to lower St Mary Street.  Customers wishing to catch the bus in this area can do so from the bus stop outside The Philharmonic on St Mary Street.  Buses will continue to Cardiff Bay Asda via Wood Street and Tudor Street.  

Journeys towards St Mellons will not be affected.
