Cardiff Council will no longer be implementing road closures on this day.

On Saturday 14th March, there will be a full city centre road closure from 10:45 until 17:15 as Wales take on Scotland in the Six Nations.

There will be a full city centre road closure from 10:45- 17:15

From early in the day, Scott Road and Park Street will be closed as a result of the need to prepare Gate 5 and protect queuing fans.

For a full road closure the following roads are closed:

  • Kingsway from its junction with North Rd to its junction with Duke St.
  • Cowbridge Road East from its junction with Cathedral Rd to its junction with Westgate St.
  • Tudor St from its junction with Clare Rd to its junction with Wood St.
  • Plantagenet St & Beauchamp St from their junctions with Despenser Place to their junctions with Tudor St (access for residents & traders will be permitted)
  • Saunders Road from its junction with St Mary Street
  • Customhouse Street throughout its length (access to private car parks will be permitted)
  • Penarth Road from its junction with Saunders Road to the entrance leading into the rear of the Central Train Station

The following roads will be closed in their entirety: - Duke St, Castle St, High St, St. Mary St, Caroline St, Wood St, Central Sq, Westgate St, Quay St, Guildhall Pl, Golate, Park St, Havelock St & Scott Rd.
 

Additions:

Civic Centre: Access to part of the Civic Centre will be controlled throughout the day, with access allowed only for parking, limited commuter parking, loading and access to private car parks. Roads affected include: King Edward VII Avenue, Museum Avenue, City Hall Road, College Road & Gorsedd Gardens Road

Station Terr / Guildford St from its junction with Newport Rd to its junction with Churchill Way southbound will be access for buses only throughout the time period of the full closure – this is to ensure reliable access for buses to the satellite bus stops in Churchill Way. 
 

Please Note:

If there are any safety concerns in connection with crowds queuing to go into the venue prior to gates opening there may be a need to close Wood St & Westgate St earlier, along with lane restrictions adjacent to Gate 1 on Cowbridge Rd East.

If there are any safety concerns relating to the queuing system at Cardiff Central Train Station, then Wood Street, Westgate Street, Park Street, Havelock Street, St Mary Street, Penarth Road, Saunders Road and Customhouse Street will remain closed until safety concerns are remedied. 

 

 

Transport for Wales

Transport for Wales are advising all customers that trains in the Cardiff area are expected to be busy all day. Those travelling into the city to watch the match are advised to leave plenty of time for their journey.

● On event day baycar runs between City Centre (Customhouse Street – JG) and Cardiff Bay only and does not serve the city centre loop or rear of Central Railway Station (stop JM) from the time roads are closed.

 

 

Stagecoach South Wales

All Stagecoach buses will finish and start and at Greyfriars Road all day on Saturday.

  • TrawsCymru T4 and T14, Stagecoach 132 and X4 will leave from Bus Stop GN.
  • Stagecoach 86, 26, 136 and X3 will leave from Bus Stop GH.
  • Stagecoach 122 and 124 will continue to leave from Bus Stop GE/GF.

Additional Diversions to Specific Services as follows:

  • Service 122/124: Will be diverted via Gabalfa Interchange & North Road from 10:00 until 18:00 and will not serve Cathedral Road.

  • Service 132: Will not serve Cardiff Bay all day.

 

 

Newport Bus

Service 30 will terminate and depart from Greyfriars Road bus stop between the hours of 10:45 and 17:45.
