Newport Road will be closed at the roundabout at the bottom of Rumney Hill / underneath Southern Way flyover for resurfacing each night from Monday 22 October to Friday 26 October from 22:00 to 05:00.
The road closure means that buses 30, 44, 45, 49 & 50 will divert after 22:00, including route 44 night buses on Friday night/Saturday morning, as follows:
Service 30
The 22:00 bus from Customhouse Street to Newport will follow normal route to Ipswich Road bus stop, then divert along A48 Eastern Avenue to Cypress Drive/Newport Road roundabout, then return to normal route at Wyevale Garden Centre. The bus stops along Newport Road from Castle Avenue to Wern Fawr Lane will not be served.
The 22:55 bus from Newport Bus Station to Cardiff will follow normal route to Wyevale Garden Centre, then divert along A48 Eastern Avenue to Rover Way/Newport Road, and return to normal route at City Link. The bus stops along Newport Road from Wern Fawr Lane to Colchester Avenue will not be served.
Services 44 & 45
Outbound buses to St. Mellons will follow normal route to Ipswich Road bus stop, then divert along A48 Eastern Avenue to Cypress Drive/Newport Road roundabout, then follow Newport Road and Wentloog Road, returning to normal route at Wentloog Road.
The bus stops along Newport Road from Castle Avenue to Carpenters Arms will not be served. Also service 44 will not serve any of the bus stops along New Road.
Inbound buses to the city centre will follow normal route along Greenway Road, then both the 44 & 45 will run along Wentloog Road, Newport Road, A48 Eastern Avenue, Southern Way, Rover Way to City Link. This means that the bus stops along Newport Road from Carpenters Arms to Colchester Avenue will not be served.
Services 49 & 50
Outbound buses to Llanrumney will follow normal route to Ipswich Road bus stop, then divert along A48 Eastern Avenue to Cypress Drive/Newport Road roundabout, then follow Newport Road to Eastern Leisure Centre and return to normal route at Llanrumney Avenue. The bus stops along Newport Road from Castle Avenue to Carpenters Arms will not be served.
Inbound buses to the city centre will follow normal route to Eastern Leisure Centre, then divert along Newport Road to Cypress Drive roundabout, A48 Eastern Avenue, Southern Way, Rover Way to City Link. The bus stops along Newport Road from Carpenters Arms to Colchester Avenue will not be served.
Also, the roundabout at the bottom of Rumney Hill / underneath Southern Way flyover will be closed outbound, towards St. Mellons/Llanrumney, from 19:39 to 22:00 each night. Buses will follow normal route, but between Ipswich Road bus stop and the bottom of Rumney Hill buses will divert along A4232 Southern Way to Llanedeyrn roundabout and return back along Southern Way to Rumney Hill and return to normal route. Buses will run to normal timetable but delays may be encountered due to the road works.
