Coronavirus (COVID-19)- Latest Information

23/03/2020 @ 21:00

In line with the Prime Minister's latest announcement, customers are reminded to only travel if it is absolutely essential to do so. A number of operators are running a reduced service in order to help key workers travel and for essential shopping or medical needs.

We would like to reassure customers that we are continuing to deliver public transport information via our website, app and Freephone number as normal at this time. We will be on hand to update you with the latest information from operators across Wales as the situation continues to change.

If you are unable to get through to our Freephone number (on 0800 464 00 00, open from 7am until 8pm daily) first time due to high call volumes, please try again later and check this page for the latest information. Alternatively, you can contact us in the following ways:

  • Email us at feedback@traveline.cymru
  • Contact us via our feedback form
  • Message us on Facebook or Twitter @TravelineCymru (we will also be retweeting the latest operator updates)

The first priority of all operators is to keep staff and customers safe. As a result, additional health and safety measures may be put in place to help reduce the spread of COVID-19, as well as possible amendments to timetables and a reduction in service provision.

Please be aware that, due to the fast-changing nature of this situation, it may not be possible to amend our Journey Planner and Timetables page to reflect last minute changes to services. We advise customers to check this page before they travel for the latest information.

Please continue to follow the latest advice from Public Health Wales in relation to COVID-19, including what to do if you have symptoms, what action you need to take to prevent its spread and the latest advice on social distancing and the use of public transport. You can also find further advice the UK Government and NHS website.

Flights

Cardiff Airport

Please visit the Cardiff Airport website for additional information and guidance for passengers due to travel, measures in place at the airport and more.

24/03/2020

Cardiff Airport is closely following guidance provided by the relevant authorities in relation to updated procedures for COVID-19.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will update our customers as required. If you are due to travel, please contact your airline or travel agent for information before coming to the airport.

From 24th March there will be no shops or food & drink outlets open in the terminal.  Passengers should bring their own refreshments as needed.  Water will be available.

The Executive Lounge is closed until further notice. If you have a booking, please contact the company you made the booking with.

The safety and security of our team and customers is our number one priority.

Cardiff Airport statement: Deb Bowen Rees, CEO at Cardiff Airport said “The current global situation is unprecedented with airports and airlines across the world feeling the impact of a number of issues.  The travel industry challenges have been exaggerated by Covid-19 (Coronavirus) and earlier this month Flybe went into administration because of a slowdown in bookings.

“While we’re feeling the impact at Cardiff Airport we are in a stronger position because of our business growth and diversification over the past few years.  We are confident that although in the short term flights and passenger numbers will be affected, we are in a strong position to bounce back when the recovery comes.

“In terms of customer advice; some flights are operating and all customers should check with their airline, tour operator or travel agent before travelling to the airport to ensure they have the latest information. Passengers can travel within the guidelines outlined by the FCO and updated UK Government advice.  A number of airlines are offering more flexibility with bookings to allow for any changes that are needed, this gives our passengers the confidence they can travel or amend their plans.

“The situation is constantly changing and we will continue to stay in close contact with the relevant Government authorities to get the latest guidance and advice.  The safety and security of our team and customers remains our number one priority.”
