It may not seem that long ago that we said goodbye to our last extended weekend, however the Bank Holiday has arrived once again! And even though there’s a cold chill still in the air outside, there’s nothing like another Bank Holiday to make us want to get out and about and make the most of that extra day off.

So we’ve put together our list of top things to do in Wales this Bank Holiday weekend! Have a browse through our list to see if anything catches your eye!

Hay Festival, Brecon Beacons, 21 - 31 May 2015

The Hay Festival brings together writers from around the world to debate and share stories. It is an annual celebration of great writing from poets, novelists, lyricists and more, all taking place in the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park. This year, visitors can see a great line up in the programme, including Stephen Fry, Michael Morpurgo and Jacqueline Wilson.

Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival, 24 - 25 May 2015

The award winning Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival is back for 2015 and will run across the second May Bank Holiday weekend. Michelin star chef James Sommerin is just one of the top names who will take to the demo stage alongside Bar 44, The Bear Hotel and festival favourite multi-award winning chef Anand George.

Thousands flock to the market town each year to sample the high quality artisan produce available and it is expected this year will be bigger than ever having moved from its normal October slot to spring.

Welsh Perry and Cider Festival, Caldicot Castle, 22 - 25 May 2015

An idea born from a group of friends who enjoyed making cider, the Welsh Perry and Cider Festival has grown over the past 14 years, and will be taking place in the picturesque Caldicot Castle. Visitors can try out a range of local cider, whilst enjoying a line-up of live music across the weekend, making for a great day out.

Urdd National Eisteddfod, Llancaiach Fawr, Caerphilly, 25 – 30 May 2015

The Urdd National Eisteddfod, one of Europe’s largest youth touring festivals, will this year be taking place in Llancaiach Fawr near Nelson in Caerphilly between the 25^th – 30^th May.

The festival attracts thousands of visitors each year and sees over 15,000 people under the age of 25 taking part in a huge range of competitions, from singing, dancing and performing.

The festival is a product of hard work carried out by local volunteers, and there will be plenty to experience across the event, from a fun fair to live bands and children’s shows.

Wherever you’re thinking of going this weekend, there are plenty of options to make your way there. With some great public transport links around the country, perhaps you and a group of your friends or family can leave your cars behind for the day and opt for a bus or train journey?
